#318 - Friendship

Whilst trying to pass the time for a Friday night movie at the cinemas, W & I have come to the conclusion that there are three levels of friendship. Of course, many people can be considered to be "friends" - but within that term itself, are different and varying degrees of friendship.

level ONE: you're friends, you hang out in the same school group / you don't hang out in the same group / you are train or bus buddies. You can talk to each other about random things, but the level of conversation isn't too emotionally wrought and you talk about... little insignificant things. Your conversation usually encompasses a few topics.

level TWO: these are the people who are higher than level one friends but still fall short of the  "best friend(s)" category. You have a deeper connection with these people, good experiences together, your conversation spans a few more topics but you still can't talk to them about anything too deep (eg. problems at home, life musings and the like). There's a little barrier to the next level.....

level THREE: I'll call this the "best friends" category. You can talk to level three friends about everything (or almost anything if you are a closed up person), they are the ones you want to keep in touch with no matter what. You can easily talk face to face, on the phone, via email .......and the list goes on. There is no awkwardness between you two and there are a lot of topics you can talk about. These are the people you can vent to, and the best people to laugh / share a good experience with.

Luckily, I have friends who fit into all these categories and I'm so glad I do have "level three friends". Girls, I think, usually have 4 level three friends. Using W's mum's friendship group and SATC girls as an example.

and a long rocky road awaits where I struggle immensely >_>
internal body clock, please get back to normal!
please, my dear mind, exercise some self control.

Yessss - story of my life - when I'm frustrated, or having a certain type of awkward moment....... with people I have had to meet and can't avoid. I just don't know what to say!  -_-
