#148 - greek drama & pungent fumes.

greek drama performance! everyone's costumes were awesome, grim reaper, frogs etc. many giant phallises around xD also memorable quotes like "splitting their arses open"
when we were on stage, there was a very fail reaction from the audience. it was supposed to be comedy, AND ONLY 1-5 PEOPLE LAUGHED :( sighhhhhhhh we all looked like noobs compared to the first group, who were really over-dramatic and funny...... but yes it's over! photos of the masks before they were awesomely painted(:

in the afternoon, an old guy got into the carriage i was in. he had blue plastic on top of his jumper and pants forming something like a raincoat and he towed a striped grocery bag. all of us commuters standing stared at him, curious. a few other school aged kids sneered, making remarks, it was so obvious the sneers were was about him. three middle aged asian women wore smirks on their faces. and then everyone started to edge away, getting as far as they could from that strange person. i wondered why, not realising until around eight people had moved out the carriage to sit downstairs, and he sat down next to me and a friend. he emitted pungent fumes. it was terrible. it was unbearable, disgusting, awful. like the scent given off by a rotting animal and dreadful BO. now i could completely understand why everyone was so desperate to get away. he smelled so bad. the woman across me opened up the windows, but the smell still lingered and floated around us==" i can bear really loud people on their phones, screaming babies, fat prams, bogans, up-themselves construction workers, but i can't stand smelly people.... the worst people to journey with.

so it seems as though there are many definitions of the word 'failure', when googled the results are as follows:

fail·ure
noun /ˈfālyər/
failures, plural
  1. Lack of success
  2. An unsuccessful person, enterprise, or thing
  3. Lack of success in passing an examination or test
  4. A grade that is not high enough to pass an examination or test
  5. The omission of expected or required action
  6. A lack or deficiency of a desirable quality
  7. The action or state of not functioning
  8. A sudden cessation of power
  9. The collapse of a business
english advanced assessment was today, and i was right in dreading it. i suppose in hindsight the question wasnt hard, its just that i didnt address the main parts of the question and therefore  = FAILURE ):
it's sad how stress eventuates in the lack of rationale behind our thoughts and this is what happened today.
what i did: write 3 and a bit pages of waffle ---> not writing fast enough ---> forced to cut out a whole paragraph worth of analysis + nice words T^T
sorry english teachers, it seems as though i have disappointed you all yet again- but i tried, i really did except there are no sympathy marks

but i must end this post on a positive note even though i'm feeling incredibly pessimistic atm so i shall leave you all with some nice quotes and remember guys life is about failure. it is our ability to perserve despite these adversities that makes us truly amazing

~`Starting from today, live only for the ones you love and love you in return. Life's too short to waste tears and time on unworthy people. You must live each day with your brightest smile; doing so, you would experience and feel... true happiness.`~
(hmmm in my case this would be about the pointless subject called english, but then again i think i failed maths as well T.T )

#146 - eventful

i just love it when you're late to school because of transport delay and there are around four other people late with you. it makes your reason so much more plausible and you get out of writing a stupid note explaining your lateness.
also made a new friend in year 12, kyralee..? super nice, chirpy and so carefree, and she gave me valuable info about next year and all =]
and i realised the extent of the dislike the pink faced male-pmsing deputy has towards me. yeah so i'm late with other people and he snaps at me alone? such a m....f......
something i learnt today: your perception of people may be grossly incorrect. and you know how they say, "the quiet seemingly-nice ones always turn out for the worst?" well apparently that phrase just came true today. i didn't really believe this when J told me how her brother, who was at the school "H" knew two members of the bali nine, who were really quiet and nice in their school days - and look at how they turned out to be, today. i am so sad and disappointed in my obviously fail misconception. viv your opinion was right all along and i shouldn't have been so blinded for almost three years =(
also train guards! WHYYYYY DO THEY NOT SEE A DESPERATE PERSON ALMOST IN TEARS LOOKING AT THE CLOSING TRAIN DOORS AND NOT BEING ABLE TO GET IN BY A FEW SECONDS :'( :'(
+ MAD = zomggg. couldn't watch backstage, and also had to be quiet, not allowed to go out the music rooms for a long while =.= the performance itself was ... not as good as i expected to be, especially in the middle and best part - no idea how we were out so bad; maybe it was me speeding up, so sorry i let the whole team down =[ but we pulled through eventually, which takes skills! especially with a sliding cello, bright lights rendering sheet music close to unreadable, and a shitty rented grand piano
and string players! i definitely envy them the most out of all the musical kids. string instruments = WOWWW

#145- Just another random thought

i should stop worrying these days, but there's so much to worry about = me neglecting blogger....again! anyhow got phys back = a very disappointed me, almost had a heart attack cos my teacher didnt add it up correctly. chem is over, after stressing about english and english and chem i was kinda annoyed- its unfair that certain people found out about the test beforehand and its quite slack to those that had to sit the test first aka ME ):

sweet's post about animals kinda reminded me of tutoring in year6, my teacher was an animal rights activist and she was full vegan- she's amazing, anyhow we were shown very very graphic images and we needed a note as well.  but yes thats it for now. bye!

fact about bitter^^
i used to own 4 chickens, and a few months ago i saw two chickens roaming the streets of a suburb beginning with W and ending in Hills

#144 - the forgotten ones: part one

part one of the forgotten ones: animals

since i am without an interesting issue in my life to write about, i'll write about animals - the truly forgotten ones.

firstly, about the live export of livestock. it's a forgotten story; it has never been in our minds. i know that i would have just continued with my daily life without giving a damn about it, happily carrying on eating succulent meat, and forever being in the dark, save for one animal rights campaigner who made a difference and got evidence from inside an indonesian abattoir to show the world what was really going on.

an abattoir is truly a disgusting place. especially if the policies and regulations regarding animal welfare are there but not enforced. in a muslim-dominated country like indonesia, the animals are supposed to be slaughtered without being stunned, which is fine, as long it's done in a humane and minimalistic way so the animal doesn't suffer. however this is not the case. so much for humane!

just go here if you want the evidence. *note: do not watch if you have a faint heart, it will make your stomach churn

the religion states this: before slaughtering, you should bless the animal. wtf is this then!! yes animals are animals, they are considered to be less than humans, some might even wonder, why are there such things like animal rights when there are many humans who don't have access to their rights? i feel very pissed off by reading news articles about the farmers who complain about losing income and blah blah blah due the suspension of the export. and even more annoyed when it was discovered that the organisation responsible for the live export trade knew about this for 10 years and more. and still chose to ignore it. and the government is rather useless too. come on, saying you're not going to trade with indonesia for 2 months isn't really a big step against this. they'll still practise putting the animals in little boxes, free to continue, without fear of any backlash, even saying that if the government doesn't trade with them, sure no problem. we have heaps of other potential countries who wish to trade with us. we don't need you. it's more like, you need us, because your economy is crumbling.

the saddest thing is that animals cannot protest, defend themselves from the sad fate that awaits them - being slaughtered with all their emotions and feelings still intact, able to feel every slash of the knife. what does this treatment exactly constitute? animal cruelty - a forgotten occurrence.

i am aware i sound like a pathetic wannabe-do-gooder at the moment for writing all this, especially because i am a meat eater myself and i barely bother to wonder about where the food i eat comes from, how their short life was, how they were slaughtered. however this is just my stance on the consequences that result from the live export of cattle and other animals.

so i just wrote a whole lot about live export. which is only one small part of the forgotten things.

secondly, the cruel use of animals as a joke, with the purpose to entertain.

take a look at this.

yeah thanks idiot who put this up on facebook. "haha look i just washed my puppy and now i'm hanging it out to dry" is not fking the bomb. and later apologizing only because the media picked it up and you got heaps of hate for it. as if the idiot was truly sorry for what he'd done. if he'd been truly sorry, he wouldn't have even done this in the first place anyway!

so let's just not pretend that these are not happening. and choose to take action, no matter how small. let's not forget.

#143- i participated in PISA

okay, it seems as though i've neglected blogger again, i'm sorry >< but in my defence i have been extremely busy~ sigh
anyhow yesterday i took part in the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) which a study that compares and examines student performance in reading, mathematical and scientific literacy. so basically 15000 kids from across australia were randomly chosen to participate in this assessment... and im one of them. am i lucky or unlucky? missing out on school is bad, especially if you have a lot of upcoming exams and assessments, it's also sad that teachers dont bother to ask about research tasks as they expect you to just know it which equals me running around chasing after teachers so that i can bombard them with my many questions.

on another note im so screwed for english ict i hope i can finish the script soon. fact about Bitter ^^ i am a self-confessed noob at technology, i literally bombed the computer component of the PISA exam so if australia does poorly in that area then you know who to blame >>
anyhow im sorry for any grammatical errors in this post, i ceebs to edit it so i shall leave you all with some pics of the 'small gifts' that jordon and i received.

sadface ): my PISA man was dodgey
