#430 - CumberCollective

Guys...
I'm officially part of the CumberCollective / Cumberpeople / Benaddicted cult.
My personal fave Ben quote (on his Cumberbitches fans):
"I won't allow you to be my bitches. I think it sets feminism back so many notches. You will be ... Cumberpeople."
Simply perfect?! My next favourite actor after DT - charismatic, feminist or at least having a belief of equality :)))), talented and funny.
Time to get Sherlocked again.
And yes, I'm aware I'm kinda using the the blog as if I'm on tumblr (:

PS. ST 2013 > ST 2009

PPS. Yesterday was my dear mum's 23rd anniversary of touching down in Australia. Wow. And then to think about how much we've aged and grown. She's not your typical mum - she's so selfless and I feel like a bad daughter most of the time because I'm lazy, don't do enough chores and we often argue over silly things. Usually I'm in the wrong and being unreasonable. She never buys materialistic things for herself - heck, persuading her to use a Nivea hand cream that I bought was an incredibly difficult task. But I've digressed. Just thinking about her frugal, selfless, loving, hardworking, good-tempered nature makes me love her all the more even though I say it so carelessly every day. So that's why I was so overjoyed when she came home yesterday and bought herself a cute new red bag after using the same boring black one for over ten years. Best mum I could ever ask for.

#429- RG

I F**KIN HATE COMMENTARY
~ENOUGH SAID

Also, just realised that for my entire essay that I submitted a week ago, I wrote adverse instead of averse TT

#428 - On wanderlust and other pressing things.

Reading travel blogs has made me realise that I am consumed by wanderlust and a little tired from the lack of excitement in my life. Here's my travel bucket list in particular order:
- Guilin
- Jiuzhaigou
- Beijing
- Terracotta warriors

(Putting it out there, I'm feeling particularly nationalistic at the moment. China is a beautiful country with a rich cultural history. For the first time, I am proud to be Chinese regardless of the government's often dubious policies. Western countries often criticise other countries' political regimes but yet they themselves are hypocritical when they deny or refute arguments about their own governments' dastardly issues. *cough cough USA and the so-called "War on Terror" - violation of human rights much?* Moreover, there have been far more countless bombings in Middle Eastern countries carried out by Western armies than there have bombings in the UK and US carried out by extremist jihads but yet it is events like these in Western countries that receive widespread media coverage and the sympathy of many.)

 - Pompeii
- South America (Mayan Ruins - Chichen Itza, Uxmal and Edzna)
- New York, Los Angeles, California
- London
- Iceland (Northern Lights)
- Venice
- Switzerland
- Berlin
- Montenegro
- South Korea
- Great Barrier Reef

I'm so glad that this day is coming to an end - multiple assessments over and done with, end of the semester and a great Friday night spent at the movies with Robs and catching up yet again over colossal boxes of $5 sushi. I can't put my finger to it, but hanging out a Friday night always makes me happy and at peace with the world. I may be an easy film critic seeing as I enjoy most films that I see, but Star Trek: Into Darkness - holy shit, this was AMAZING. Amazing is actually an understatement - I just can't think of any more fantastical words to describe the film. I though IM3 was great, but Star Trek exceeds my expectations and is currently topping my list of must-watch films this year. I am totally digging science fiction and action blockbusters  and by golly, the special effects these days are absolutely freaking sublime in 2D. I feel like the universe is getting more awesome by the second. I just want to ponder the mysteries of the universe. NB: Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC Sherlock) is officially crowned the creepiest looking villain ever.

Also pleased to report that I am employed (hurray for my first proper job!) but will undergo training in a fortnight or so. I also caught up with an old primary school friend on the train on Monday morning and it was so nice to see her after 8.5 years! A random topic that Rob and I discussed tonight was social drinking amongst young adults. For others it's used to achieve a high and make you feel great / sad etc and is undeniably a great social tool but personally, I'm not the hugest fan of it when people don't drink in moderation and know their limits. I'm a prude. I find that losing control of your actions and thoughts is a frightening thing - some people change into completely different people and their actions may prove to be fatal or detrimental. I've heard first-hand stories about shy people my age losing all inhibitions once drunk and trying to get into the cabins of the opposite sex during camp. If sober people hadn't stopped them, a crime may have been committed. That's how scary people can become when they are drunk even though you have the happy drunks, the smiling drunks, the confident drunks and the spilling secrets drunk. Moreover, is getting so drunk really such a good thing when you wake up with a pounding aching hangover, spend a large proportion of the night with your head bent over the toilet seat, vomiting everything your body cannot handle and struggle to remember what happened last night? A physical high on life can be achieved through other means (skydiving, bungee jumping, whatever floats your boat and makes you feel elated) and a party can be fun without alcohol or people drinking in moderation (1-2 drinks). Just putting it out there: be safe.

It's been around five and half years. It sounds so long but boy, time sure flies quickly. I remember every memorable moment, be it sad, happy, depressing and any other emotion on the spectrum...
We all change, but distance only grows exponentially over time if we change in different directions and cannot stop. Deep down, I could sense the direction we were heading and for that reason, I fully accept the present as it is today. No particular regrets. People come, people go, but only a few will stay and pose a significant existence to you.
Where will we be in 5 years? Who will we hold dear?
The future awaits.

PS. A very late congratulations to my dear sister for making it into the enrichment course for the National Art School! Love ya heaps. 加油!

#427- CNBLUE BLUE MOON CONCERT 1/06/13

haha dodgey but yes that should aptly articulate the amount to excitation that I am still struggling to contain and nts next time to try to make a use a word to make a picture consult your bro because he is truly the master.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG STILL CANNOT BELIEVER THAT CN BLUE GRACED SYDNEY. LET ME TELL YOU THAT IT WAS SUCH A SURREAL MOMENT, FANGIRLED TO BUTTER ABOUT THIS BUT YONGHWA YOU ARE FOREVER MY ULTIMATE BIAS, YOU ARE SO AMAZING AND TALENTED AND SEEING YOU IN PERSON WAS SUCH AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE. GUYS IF YOU THOUGHT HE WAS HANDSOME ALREADY THEN HE'S EVEN BETTER IN REAL LIFE, IKR, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

ahh i could go on about it forever so if you're like Average and are sick of me fangirling then just skip this post because that's exactly what I shall do for the remainder.

Recount!
Met Reflectica at Milsons Point, had an early lunch and we missed out on waffles before we started to find our way to Big Top Sydney and if you're wondering where that is, well it's situated inside Luna Park (yeah go figure...). One of the most disappointing aspects of the night (not on the part of CNBLUE) was the organisation of the Big Top staff as well as JK Entertainment- the organiser, from the moment we arrived till the end of the concert it was continuously raining, and we had to wait in the rain for entry. It is absurd to even fathom how it is possible to allow 3000 fans to enter a concert within the time frame of 30minutes when it is also raining. I know that V and I frequently say that common sense is not common but do they have a brain? Yeah I'm still struggling to accept their treatment of us, and I know that this didn't apply to me much but CNBLUE were forced to start on time so that was like 7:40 and that meant that those were behind us (200+ people) missed out on the beginning of the show. To make matters worse, those in GA reserved seating had their seats poached by other randoms and as a VIP Reflectica and I had to show a staff ticket before we were in a designated area because when we entered the door as with everyone else we were met by crowds of GA people. One more thing for me to rant about and I'll stop, PHOTOS omg stingy stingy people, I understand that we can't take a video but how is a photo unacceptable, sheesh as fans we just want to cherish this moment in our lives by documenting it. I'm pretty sure that if the staff were in our shoes then would do so as well.

Okay on the positives and everything that I will take away from this night. First of all, being like 10m away from Yonghwa, Minhyuk, Jonghyun and Jungshin was unavailable, if you're a loyal reader of this blog then you will know how much I fangirl over them especially Yonghwa. 3 years of waiting and remember that post where I spammed you info about how they were coming down under, gosh it finally happened where I got to see them in person as opposed to watching them on my computer. They are also so good live, hearing Yonghwa sing <3333333333333 and guess what he sang love light so for all the WGM and Gogumas out there I was pleasantly surprised when I saw someone holding up a YongSeo banner because I totally ship them! OTP right here, I'm going to stop here but if you see me this week then ask me how was my weekend because that'll be the cue for me to start fangirling about this incredible night.

I don't know why I feel that 2013 is treating me really well, started off with a BANG with the AusOpen and seeing Nole's title defence along with Maria Sharapova in action was something that was that already made me year but now to top that all off was my first ever concert experience and I'm glad that I didn't participate in the Optus Rockcorps because otherwise the title would've gone to that instead and I'd much rather spend my first concert paying for an artist/s that I genuinely love and that happened. So 2013 come at me, nothing can detract away from all the happiness that I've had so far.

PHOTOS
One of the best nights ever with one of my favourite besties <3
This was taken off fb, but basically the minnie mouse headband was a gift from a fan and then Yonghwa wore it was gave us ageyo and said "I am Disney" awww love him so much and he's such a troll but the tolerable type which makes you love them even more
LIVING IT UP cos ... YOLO
One of the few pictures that I managed to sneak in where you can see them clearly
Context: Jungshin threw this towel into the VIP crowd and the guy behind me caught it TT I would've edited the guys face but I think that would distort my memories of it

After concert- it ended on time but it seemed to go by so fast
Midnight snack at Tom N Toms, hehehe I've introduced Reflectica to the world of korean green tea lattes

Finally, CNBLUE are leaving tomorrow, and as a Boice and a die-hard (but not crazy scary fan), I hope that the boys had a pleasant time in Sydney going home with warm memories so that they will return in the near future because I shall be waiting but not patiently so don't make me wait too long.

Okay so I haven't posted in a while, but that can be said for everyone. Till next time! oh and my other blog turned 1 today!

#426 - Questions

I'm so incredibly busy but I don't know why I'm blogging. I have never done this sort of post before, but I guess there's a first time for everything.

What’s a question you’re afraid to ask? To whom?
Are we going to change and become unable to find things to talk about?

What’s something you hide about your personality?
I'm not just this boring, relatively awkward person - I'd like to think that I am opinionated,  talkative and not boring superficial person. I just don't get the chance to show these things to people when we don't 'click' enough.

What’s something other people think about you that you don’t agree with?
These days people think I work really hard in everything. Though I wish I did, I don't work hard in a lot of things.

How do you deal with criticism?
Not too well, especially if it's from family. But then, families stick together even though they are often the ones who see you at your worst. I'm human after all and I'm so full of flaws but I'm trying to improve on not taking everything so seriously and seeing a scenario from another person's view instead of being hot-headed.

What’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for you?
There's been a lot of things. My lovely parents have done a lot of sweet things that any loving parents would do. Friends have also done some sweet things :) Just today my  tutor (who is so incredibly full of awesomeness) gave a few people and me an owl to remind us that she'll always give a hoot about us. Such a small gesture, but so sweet and thoughtful. All together now: awwww!  I love teachers like that.

What’s the sweetest thing you’ve ever done for someone?
One time last year it was raining in the afternoon and I saw this elderly guy who had mobility problems and was using a device that helped him to propel him forward. He didn't have an umbrella and I just held the umbrella over his head and let him get to his destination without getting wet.

What’s something sweet you’d like someone to do for you?
[what's up with the emphasis on 'sweet' questions?!]

Someone chooses me to be a godparent to their future kids.
I looooove kids. And their fat cheeks. Not to mention they are so nice to cuddle and hug :D
Below: cutest little girl I know. That adorable toothy smile! When I felt her little hands reaching out to hold my big hand... :)

Describe your favourite texture.
Frothy. Love that texture on coffee, smoothies, Milo etc. SO NICE.

Post a photo/draw a picture/write a poem (pick one) of a moment of personal significance.

They say I appeared
arms flailing, screaming, kicking
"It's a noisy girl."

:)

Which fictional character would you most like to have lunch with and why?
Definitely the Doctor. He's had many adventures and I want to hear them all.

If you were an element on the Periodic Table, which would you be and why?
Helium.
I like it because my sis told me a lame joke about it and it makes people laugh at your high pitched voice after.

You’re an Action Movie Hero. What’s your weapon of choice and the line you scream when defeating your arch enemy?
Weapon of choice: Magical wand (a la Harry Potter)
Signature line: Die, motherfucker.

What did you think about before you fell asleep last night?
Hump Day is the worst.

What motivates you in life?
The beckoning call of adventures, hope and the people I love.

What was something you used to enjoy, but was ruined for you? What’s the story behind that?
Doctor Who. I used to be a hardcore fan and watched daily up to season 6, but then lack of time to do everything ruined it for me and it had to be sacrificed. I'm ashamed to admit that these days I spend a significant amount of time mindlessly watching endless cliché dramas instead of getting back on track with this fabulous show.

Which mythological creature are you most like? Why? And if you could be any mythological creature, which would you want to be? Why?
Oooh I adore almost anything from Greek mythology, but I'd probably pick Pegasus. I'd love to be able to fly and meet awesome people whilst having the most fabulous adventures ever.

What’s something that scares you about the future?
The loss of humanity, autocratic countries, exploitation in all forms, fascist dictators, environmental damage - a world that's not suitable for my future children and future generations.

Describe your dream library.
The library would be aesthetically sublime and magnificent, housing 2000 books and more and there would be little robots to help me clean the dust and help me get books from hard-to-reach places. I'm a bibliophile.
A little like this.

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m39lpqGm9r1ru21zyo1_1280.jpg

Do you have any “rules” about food?
I'm a picky eater and I have SO many rules for food.
1) Can't be spicy, too meaty,  too sweet (*cough cough Max Brenner*)
2) No lamb, raw / rare meat, wasabi, weird parts of animals such as giblets or chicken feet or duck liver.
3) No bitter melon or pumpkin.

What’s your opinion on age differences in relationships?
Shouldn't exceed 10 years.

Describe a time/event in your life that you’re nostalgic for.
Childhood - the age of innocence.
I remember a great time when I was maybe 6 years old. It was a hot summer day and my sis and I were eating a Drumstick ice cream cone in the car whilst my mum was driving us to the supermarket. Then I had the absolutely spiffing ingenious idea of putting my cone outside the window to 'cool' it down against the wind. So there we were, putting our cones and sticking our heads outside the window, feeling the cool breeze. Then we get to the supermarket and got out of the car and saw ice cream splattered across the car doors and laughed our heads off. Back in those days...

What is your ideal bed? Why?
Single bed with two fat pillows and a slightly bouncy mattress and warm blankets.

24/5/13
I swear, I don't usually do this but I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I went onto blogger to check if my friends had updated their blog. Apparently Sweet and I have a strong following in Indonesia, did not even know that that was possible because the only Indonesians that I know reside in Australia but that's cool (: I hope that they find something meaningful by reading our blog and I think it'll be a lovely gesture if you leave a  comment or just say hi, we would appreciate it, if that is not up your alleyway then being the silent reader is fine by us as well

26/5/13

I GOT TWITTER yeah follow me but nothing much will happen because I only joined so that I could follow Nole and enter one of his giveaways

27/5/13
Uni is so different from high school, there's so many other people who are so bright and gosh I guess I'm average, okay I'm exaggerating here but I feel like that. It certainly isn't easy to get the same marks that I'm used to in high school and I MISS MATHS, hearing Average talk to me about his math hw and quizzes makes me regret not doing something with math and my the closest thing I have to it is stats (gross).

Something came in the mail today (: something I bought that is related to my party and also CNBLUE concert is this Saturday and reflectica and I will be going to Vivid because heck we're in the city so we might as well. I should be super duper excited except I have an essay to write for a unit that I just got marks for which I was not all too pleased about (it was just below D) and although I know what I wrote was shit, I thought that I should've been awarded more marks like my law case note. I have learnt my lesson now, I am never going to collaborate for law ever again, it just makes you second guess yourself when in fact you were right all along so from now on I'm just going to do my own thing and if that screws me over then so be it (I won't be fine with this but I'm just saying it for the sake of doing so)

#424 - Babblings

1. First and foremost;
Here are a few key traits that indicate teachers shouldn't be teachers: impatient, prickly, not willing to offer help and going off at almost everyone since someone complained about her teaching skills. Clearly, she's not teaching for altruistic purposes - wrong profession, dude. A plethora of degrees including a PhD and ___ years of 'professional teaching experience' does not guarantee that one will be a good teacher, okay? You could be extremely knowledgeable but still not able to deliver the content in an effective and engaging manner. Moreover, being defensive and downright cocky of one's teaching ability instead of giving feedback to students and telling them how to improve and where they went wrong is not the right way of doing things. No one was questioning her judgment anyway.

2.
Job. I'm not sure what's going on.

3. [I'll be going off on a tangent here with a rant about sexism.]
This
is sick, disturbing, sexist and uncalled for.
I'm hating the fact that the empowerment of women is so difficult to achieve because of people like him (ie. scum). As someone commented, his attitude is extremely harmful to women and his comments may serve as further justification for violence and assault against women.
A laughable thing I read yesterday written by a girl (ironically) was that sexism could be ignored since it was, and here I quote, "it's no doubt an insecurity" that women had. I'm just going like....what?! Of course it's not an insecurity - it's something that is fundamentally unjust and has detrimental ramifications on the people who are subjected to this (males included!). When sexism is ignored, this only legitimizes the vicious continuation of this unacceptable behaviour. If sexism was really such a minor issue that could be easily overlooked and joked about, there wouldn't be a need for various anti-discrimination laws which Australia currently has in place, right?
I'm all for being free of sexism - it's certainly not something that should be tolerated by anyone regardless of gender. That goes for discrimination in general as well.
As you may have gathered by now, I'm pretty vocal about things such as sexism, feminism, equality (you get my drift) when I blog and I have so much to say. However, when it comes to tutorials where everyone can freely discuss their views on certain issues, I'm deathly quiet. There's a lot of things I know but somehow I can never muster the courage to speak my mind freely in front of a lot of people... I guess I communicate my thoughts better by writing rather than speaking.

4.
Though I really shouldn't be dwelling on unexpected setbacks and mishaps (get over it, girlllllll), some good news came around. I finally managed to perfect a law assessment the first time - no need for resubmission. HELL YESSS (: I finally did something right! I'm ecstatic because I am always completely mind-boggled when I do them and often eclipsed by self-doubt, questioning my intelligence. Though the memo is a relatively insignificant thing, it cheered me up immensely after I was down in the dumps for a day or two over a certain event. I'm going to miss this 'training wheels' unit when I move on to 'normal wheels' next semester. Got my first proper uni essay back today and I'm relatively happy - I could have done better, but at least now I know where to improve! (:

5. Last but not least;
A positive mindset. Yep, I'm trying to be more optimistic and upbeat no matter what happens. Too often I'm engulfed and caught up in indefinite and unnecessary negative statements such as "maybe", "can't", "won't", "unable" that I forget that I can achieve this or do that. Self-doubt is something that I'm often guilty of, and I'm sure everyone is the same. However, don't let it get to you since it seriously undermines the potential that lies within you. You have to believe in yourself first.

PS. Though point 5 probably is something that everyone needs - I especially address this to a certain someone who needs to be a lot more positive about their ability to achieve things and balancing study, work and social life - you can do it.
