#311- US Open

I'll make this short.

For some reason my ipad can't download the US OPEN app, it says that I need IOS 5 which is ridiculous since the ipad2 uses that very system.

Anyhow, it was another shriek-a-thon at the US Open for the women's semi. If you're curious as to who I'm talking about then just think back to Aus Open final earlier this year. However I can't be too critical seeing as I'm a fan of one of those players, the one who lost ):

Moving on! Roger Federer was knocked out in the quarters ): Apparently it's the first time in 8 years since Nadal and Federer have been in a grand slam semi line up. Hopefully that means that Nole has a better chance of winning except that also clears the field for Murray (insert gruesome face of me being disturbed) D: So fingers crossed that that doesn't happen!

And finally, I'm so annoyed that no free to air channel is airing the tennis.

#310 - Necessary

 - UNSW open day was nice + saw bitter! Felt a little down after attending the lecture and seeing so many people I had to compete with though... =_="
 - I'll only care about what those who I cherish think of me. 
- S, B, M: I'm ever so grateful for the hope and encouragement they offer me - they have really lifted my spirits
- Carpe diem
- It's so nice - I think we've all gotten much closer recently, and there's so much laughter all around. We're talking about grand adventures we shall endeavour in the near future, and when we're all just lying on the grass, conversation buzzing around - it seems like life is so idyllic. This is something I value - sometimes physical, sometimes that content feeling
- DOCTOR WHO SEASON 7!!! is out :D Loving the streaming on ABC iView, though I need to catch up on the last three eps of season 6
- *facepalm* moment: woke up in a daze yesterday and buttoned my shirt wrong?!! :X and did not realise why all the junior kids were staring at me weirdly until I got back into the classroom. LOL 
- Dad was digging through passports...and ta-da! 

Clearly a victim of the archetypal pumpkin haircut almost every Asian child gets. and look at that double chin. I love fat babies the most - they're so pudgy! xD

#309- Greener Grass

You know what they say: "The grass is always greener on the other side..." and this brings me to the U-Syd U-NSW debate over which of the two is more prefrrable. Personally I have a bias towards U-Syd because in general it's better, more convenient, more aesthetically appealing campus, GREENER GRASS and finally it has nice weather (from my experience).

Today was a bit disappointing for me, the lectures were mundane especially the advanced mathematics and statistics talk. Finance and Law were repetitive seeing as I already knew what the course offered and my freebies experience was pathetic (but I didn't try). Oh and I saw George Shen except I highly doubt that he would recognise me.

Moving on.... I've been going through fashion blogs again and I highly recommend that you all read How to Bitchface by Tavi Gevinson and if you do then learn how to SMIZE because it will change your life!

Finally, I'll leave you all with some inspiring words again from Tavi Gevinson <3. It's titled Still Figuring it Out which should apply to most of us.

AND......I have a chance at working at an awesome place after school ends! (I shall thank connections for this opportunity) All shall be revealed if I get the job. Fingers crossed :)  

25/08/12:

A rather chaotic day.
First it was USYD open day. So overwhelmingly pretty - the red, blue and yellow balloons, the Hogwarts-esque atmosphere, and don't even get me started on the law building - it was absolutely  sublime! <3 AHHH too bad I have zero chance of making it in! Sadly, I missed the law lecture, but I attended the commerce one (packed, and extremely mundane) and the education lecture which was ...... mind boggling. Sort of. I just went for fun to accompany a friend, but the lecture just drew me in. I totally agree that teachers go into this field for altruistic reasons - and I do want to work to help people out too. Therefore I sometimes end up questioning myself: do I want to do this type of law to achieve justice and better society, or do I want to another type for self interest (ie. gain monetary profit?) I honestly don't know, I feel so conflicted between these two issues. I want to enter a profession where I love everyday and it's something that ensures I am somewhat financially secure. But despite my dismal teaching abilities and certain opposition, I am still going to put down B. Ed somewhere on my preferences :D Okay dnm thought over. FREE Kernel popcorn + fairy floss = very happy child! And I laughed so hard when I saw there was a Gaius Gracchus Appreciation Society..... l   o   l - I hate this dude.

Anyway, around 7pm, my fam and I arrived at a Chatwood restaurant for a wedding reception (only my second one! the first one was 10 years ago :O) And the reception was so much better than what I expected it to be, and really fun - a mixture of Western and traditional culture. The bride was really pretty and so were her bridesmaids, and the groom and the other guys were so short.... LOL. It was a very fun night, and MICHAEL BUBLE WAS ON. THROUGHOUT THE  NIGHT <3 ("everything" and "haven't met you yet"). Oh and usually I don't take alcohol or wine, but I was like, oh yeah why I don't bother trying? It can't be that bad. Well, the wine was quite bitter and ew and I have discovered that I suffer from that "red face" Asians get after drinking wine / alcohol -__- was red and could feel my face heating up after only 1 glass ): low tolerance level........sigh.

Busy day again - no late sleep in at all this week and late sleeping time too! :(

VA expo was the highlight of the day, everyone's works were really good and their reflection statements were so philosophical <3 I'll upload photos later though, ciao for now : )

#306 - Won't dwell

17/08:

Fun day out with the other blogger! (: So I finally tried moochi, and yes I adored green tea. And wandered around the city with very bloated stomachs, hehe. It was a lovely day with the exception of the price on my piercings........  %^&*((#@. So the shop in question, was located in Market City near the news agency on like...level 2, I think. Though they did a good job, I am so very highly irritated by the way they "extorted" (yes, this seems to be the right word to use here) money. Firstly, when people ask for the price of ear piercings, they would assume it to mean 2. NOT ONE. So yeah, it was pretty cool when we asked about the price and it was $25 including earrings - however we failed to realise it was for ONE earring...... omfg. So the piercing's all done, and the woman says it's $45 (such a money hungry _ _ _ _ _, IMMEDIATELY asking for money, no shame at all. Didn't even bother giving safety instructions and whatnot. Far out.). Now I was like "Where the heck did that extra $20 come from?" And the damn woman then decides to conveniently show their brochure advertising $25 for 1 piercing and $45 for 2. WOW SO NOW YOU SHOW IT ==" What I hated the most from this experience was the way the shop charged money. If they wanted to make it costly, then demonstrate it explicitly - not by sneaky ways. Though we are also at fault too, a little, for being ambiguous.
Something I have learnt:
- clarify exactly how much the price is for TWO piercings
- it is inevitable that certain members of society will give you shit because you are young and probably are inexperienced. all you can do is just try to learn from past mistakes and do your best not to be tricked.

#305- Bitter & Sweet's day out

Before I begin I should warn everyone that Sweet is one of those people that are infamously late.

Okay but this time it wasn't her fault, the culprit is Sydney's 'reliable' public transport system. Met up at St James Station (<3) before we headed off to Westfield Sydney and all I can say is that there is a reason why I shop online. Why? Because Australian shops sell overpriced clothes which are made from cheap material. I hope topshop and H&M don't follow this trend because I am eagerly anticipating their opening in the city.

Then we had MOOCHI except they didn't have watermelon or strawberry cheesecake flavoured yoghurt

What to order, what to order.... simple just choose the biggest option possible, that being Massive

Three Flavours: Pomegranate, Biscotti and Green Tea (although I'm not particularly fond of green tea frozen yoghurt). Kicking back in nice padded chairs in the top level food court at Westfield Sydney whilst we devour 1Litre tub of frozen yoghurt. The result, 2 stuffed girls who were about to meet a very enthusiastic parent who was keen on stuffing us with even more food including bitter coffee.
