#518 - My newest love

AJ Rafael: I am so in love with his music.

 Memories:
  • W's birthday. Aww :)
  • #ClassicSweet: as always, I'm in desperate need of rest. Falling asleep during inappropriate times. 25 minute podcast about legal ethics? Snoooooze. Language grammar structures and phrases? Zzzzz. Supposed to meet up with Jan at Stra but ended up sleeping past the stop haha...missed out on my large milk tea D:
  • Getting nicely reprimanded for contravening the quiet carriage protocols on a CountryLink train because I didn't realise it was a quiet carriage - checked the left side of the train, not the right. Ahhh. Road trip memories.
  • Volunteered for Red Shield Appeal with R, J, S and D! The suburb I did it in...wow, I cannot compare my hometown to it at all. Leafy greens, gorgeous gardens and houses and it's so fancy and old that the builders' names are inscribed on the houses. The moment Jo comes with me to make sure I'm safe, I get chased by a giant guard dog...Fun times nevertheless :)
  • [EDIT] Forgot to mention I had an unexpected brief catch-up with le bestie at Stra! T'was a truly awesome experience :D
Source. Accurate representation!
  • I'm damn good at the one minute frantic dash up the escalators for the trains at Epping.
  • I'm the shittiest at judging people. Also, first impressions are completely wrong.
  • The Guardian turned 1 yesterday! Quality journalism. Not like Fairfax or Murdoch press. *unabashed news junkie declaring her love* On a side note, Hockey bringing legal proceedings against SMH and others for defamation: hahaha.
  • The federal government is a joke.  With each passing day, there's only more and more bad news which don't bode well for ordinary Australians.
exhibit A: Grave robbers indeed
exhibit B: Hypocrite
exhibit C: Thank you for further undermining youth and the unemployed
exhibit D: The Coalition clearly has their priorities right. The home insulation scheme is obviously a matter of far more importance than the royal sex abuse commission.
exhibit E: As ozimoron comments, "Would you like wine with that whine, Pyne?"
exhibit F: Dick move. They are completely clueless as to what it's like in the real world.
exhibit G: Ejected ALP MPs on 101 occasions. Meanwhile...she ejected Liberal MPs just once.
exhibit H:  YES. Let's have a double dissolution
exhibit I: It's not a scholarship when there is only a sole applicant.
exhibit J: Someone pass me a bucket so I can puke
exhibit K: Hahaha. Oh they are cowards

#517- Home Stretch

As you can probably tell, both Sweet and I have been posting every now and then, haha I should probably just me because I'm the biggest offender here. I hope everyone has been well, no doubt uni is getting hectic with the finals approaching. I guess it's both a good and bad thing that my exams well be completed by Monday of the second week but that also means that I have an exam on Saturday TT AND THE STUPID LAW FACULTY MADE MY LAW EXAMS ON CONSECUTIVE DAYS.

TIME TO DIG MYSELF A HOLE, BYE!

#516 - MULS 'All Around the World' Cruise et al.

First ever cruise with most of my wonderful bunch and two of my lovelies!
Food and drinks, music and the boat were so-so but the best bit of the cruise was socialising :D I'm just really happy I'm slowly coming out of my shell. Interacting with others isn't so difficult anymore. I'm still me though, no matter what. Three hours went by far too quickly but I had to face reality again - had to be in at work early the next day.

Poor photo quality will have to do until official photos come out. Doesn't matter anyway, all these photos are memories of an amazing night (:

So grateful for having these people in my life. Love them (and also the others who weren't in the pic and didn't go)

Oh yeah and talking about work reminds me, it's so important to love what you do. You just feel so much happier. I had such an amazing week at work two weeks ago - successfully sold under the hammer, the owners treated us to cake and the purchasers were so sweet and lovely (:  God, I love my boss and my work place, just the fact that we're able to be close to each other, get along with each other, shout lunch, open up about our personal lives and so forth. This is the kind of environment I want to be working in after I graduate.

On uni: there's been some very good days but there's also been some bad days. Anyway, the point is, I need to work so much harder. Social life is peaking, having reached an all-time high during semester time but at the expense of uni somewhat...

On procrastination: well I'm doing it now. And it's so bad, I know. Do I really want to put myself through thirty eight hours of pure torture again? No I don't.

On the budget: Absolutely. Fucking. Bullshit. I have never been so opposed to the right-wing faction in my life until now. I don't suppose Abbott and his cronies (à la Hockey) happen to remember forking out $12 billion for useless, unnecessary and downright shit quality jets, do they? And let's just be willing to throw all that money down the drain despite a $50b deficit. And $1m for ballerinas' accommodation. What the fuck is this shit. 2016 - an increase to 6% interest for HECs. And despite an ageing population, why not deal with this in the best way possible - lower benefits for pensioners. And healthcare - don't let me get started. Dickheads.
Read this, this, this, this , this. The more I read, the more pissed I get. And let's not forget that the vast majority of Australians voted the Liberal Party in for an entire term. Quite sure many people are regretting their decision unless they're filthy rich or the most privileged and well-off in society. I am 100% certain the Liberal Party will be out of the running for the next federal election.

Featured comment on SMH: "Joe Hockey in his budget speech concluded that the Government did not want to leave the next generations in debt and that everyone must share the load. However, if this is the Governments objective, why then is the Government not looking to restrict tax rorts including negative gearing, capital gains tax concessions, superannuation loopholes, diesel fuel excise and tax cuts for the big multinational mining companies. The budget does nothing but leave the future generations beholden to debt. This Government continues to govern for big business and boomers only." - Jb

Damn right.  A photo that accurately represents this sorry excuse of a human being and another person I deeply despise.

#515-My ode to Tong Hua

Is it weird that the lessons on belonging are still in the back of my head even now? I must confess that I'm not much of a reader now but in the past few months this has all changed because of Tong Hua's works. It's sad that her books are obviously written in Chinese and with my current ability I have no hope of appreciating it in its original language but thankfully there is Miss Koala and her wonderful translations. Even though it has been translated her work still retains her unique lyrical but tear-jerking style. I swear only Tong Hua can make me down a box of tissues as if it's nothing out of the norm and it is only Tong Hua that has made me put my money where my mouth is by buying all of her books known to existence (that's apparently 15kg right there according to my dad). Call me a crazy kid I know but it's because there are limited translations/summaries available forcing me to buy them so I can slowly catch up on the chapters that aren't translated. It was also because I was doing a Taobao order and I have no idea how but I found Tong Hua's books and then one thing led to another and I ended up finding sellers who were selling the entire collection. WIN!

So this holidays I can't wait to read Yun Zhong Ge, I know I have no way of avoiding the waterworks but the story is just so poignant and special that I have no qualms with giving up hours of my time to translate it all for my own reading. In other words, who uses Google + because I somehow get a lot of views there...strange.

Also after reading the plot line for Tong Hua's modern novel, I have to say that it is so farfetched that I completely trust Miss Koala's conviction so I just wanted to clarify that I love most of Tong Hua's works like Bu Bu Jing Xin, Da Mo Yao, Yun Zhong Ge, Ceng Xu Nuo, and Chang Xiang Si. I've also started watching Perfect Couple which is a drama that Tong Hua wrote, her first official screenplay and not as a novel writer whose work is adapted into a drama. I love Wallace Huo and Tang Yan's chemistry, they were killing in Chinese Paladin 3, you'd think they were the main lead if you didn't watch the entire series from start to finish. But they are paired again, finally and they means eye candy for us. Wallace also did a duet with Ding Dang who is an amazing Chinese singer and of course it sounds amazing. I really wish she would come and perform in Australia along with Mayday, I would not hesitate at all to go and see them in person.

Every runner's name written on a giant "She Runs"

GUY SEBASTIAN. /swoon

First 10K done and we were both totally unprepared. Ran a total of 7K and the rest was power walking or very slow jogging. Such an amazing experience, Nike provided heaps of fun things in the event! Everyone else was like super fit, but eventually we just got used to our speed (:

Anyway, I know, I know, I'm neglecting the blog! It's getting so hectic.

Mid sem: fun fun fun which I am now paying the price for. Shenyun, clubbing, the Star, dnms until 6.30AM, 4.30AM food run, longgg talks, family catch up, Roundhouse party (so over this place now), I can't even remember everything I did but I remember going out a lot and enjoying the break. Getting into EDM as well! Gonna leave it at here. Till next timeeeee, dear readers (:
